Just Me

has anyone seen… September 18, 2008

our bag of batteries?  I know we have a huge bag of AA, D, and other size batteries SOMEwhere in this tiny apartment.  But where?  I wanted to take some pictures yesterday, but couldn’t because of lack of batteries.  So a belly update will not be available until either batteries are found or new batteries are boughten.

Went to the midwife today…she said everything looked good.  Mainly, she just talked about the diabetes thing and wanted to refer me to an endocrinologist and peri-neonatologist.  Those people would tell me that I’m doing everything right, I’m sure:-).  But once she discovered it would take 3 weeks to get me in for an appt. with those types, she said she would just order another sonogram.  That would be to check for the growth of the baby, and make sure she’s not getting too big.  I don’t think she is…at least that’s my pre-mother’s intuition.  She exercises a lot – I can feel it.  This   But, it will be fun to get such a late-stage sonogram.  I’ll be due in 4-5 weeks.  We went over our birth plan, and she said all looks good…even the part about Zach “catching” the baby if he chooses.

I’m thinking of all this stuff that I want to do before she gets here.  Mainly, I’d like to get a haircut and get an eye appointment.  I’m about out of contacts.  And my hair…I just need to find someone to shape it up some.

Anyways, that’s my exciting life for now!

Ah, how well I remember the itching belly, foot jabbing ribs stage. It sounds like everything is falling into place, and I’m so excited for you two! I just have two pieces of advice from my own experience. One, my OB/GYN told me the week before I gave birth . . . and I wound up needing to take it. A birth plan is a great thing to have. But when you are actually going through labor, be aware that things can go wrong. In my case, labor just stretched on and on forever and ever with no end in sight. So I had to take Pitocin and an epidural just to get the contractions to do their job and allow myself to relax enough to let my body do what it had to do. If I hadn’t caved on my no-drug policy, I would have wound up with a c-section. I hope things go well for you and that you will be able to stick with your birth plan to a “t.” But I also hope you remember that flexibility is key when it comes to having a baby.

Also, I’d hold off on getting new contacts right before birth, if I were you! My vision changed quite a bit after Sarah was born. I went from not needing glasses to needing glasses. I’ve heard other moms say their prescriptions changed after childbirth. So if you can hold off until a month or two after the baby’s born, that would probably be best . . . just to be sure your vision isn’t changing. Otherwise, you may find yourself with a bunch of new contacts you can’t use and needing to go through the whole process again. If you absolutely need some to tide you over until things settle down after your baby girl arrives, try to order the least amount possible. Just a thought! 🙂

    Good luck!

Thanks, Melissa. We are def. trying to keep an open mind with the birth plan. I’m thinking of it more to set the tone for how we envision things panning out. And, just showing that we DO actually have a preference and aren’t just “whatever” about certain elements. Contacts…I still have to figure that one out, because I need a new Rx before they’ll sell me even one more box. Unless I can talk them into ‘just one more.’ I’ll have to call around. But I have heard that about new-mom eyes. Maybe it’s so we can only have eyes for our new little one:-)

I think you should get a sassy and sexy haircut, not that you asked 🙂 Good luck finding someone to cut it. Now that I’ve finally found someone I’ve made her swear not to move. As for your batteries…if you find yours can you see if ours are there too? I’m missing the AAs, AAAs, and Ds. Gotta love moving! I’m thinking and praying for you. Love you lots and lots!

No, I’ve seen the batteries since you guys have been here. I’m pretty sure I put them in the “safe” place!
