Just Me

Some things new. November 28, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — stacybee @ 1:55 am

Last weekend, my parents and Zach’s parents visited us.  Little did they know they’d be painting the kitchen and installing an over-the-counter microwave and under-the-counter-toaster-oven.  Major thanks to moms and dads.

Next up, the annual AKC dog show that comes on every year after the Macy’s Parade on Thanksgiving.  Wendy LOVED watching the “Teddies” and we listened to her squeal “Teddy!” as she pointed at the TV for about 20 minutes.  Sorry the pictures are so bright…don’t know what happened there:

We had a non-traditional Thanksgiving meal, but a similar one to what we had a few years ago when we did Thanksgiving on our own.  We had grilled mahi mahi and asparagus, garlicky cranberry chutney, butternut squash, and cranberry orange bread.

Wendy wasn’t able to stay awake long enough to have any of this.  She got some leftover squash tonight, though!  Our dessert was Irish sharp cheddar cheese with papaya, starfruit, and pear.

Looks yummy, right?  It was.  I’m glad we were able to enjoy giving thanks today together.  Zach and I don’t get to spend much face to face time since he has so much to do as a 2nd-year professor and I’m always chasing Wendy.  It was really nice to be able to cook and eat together!

That looks so yummy! We too ate just the 4 of us for T-day this year. I tackled a turkey breast (courtesy of Costco…very tasty!), asparagus with pecans and tarragon in a warm balsamic vinagrette, homemade stuffing with apples, heart attack potatoes, curried butternut squash soup, and pumpkin chiffon pie. I love your variation on the norm. Parker too loved the squash in our soup version! Sorry I haven’t called yet. They’ve been tag teaming me but one of these days I’ll be free to call. Hope you’ll be home! Love you lots and lots 🙂

We enjoyed spending time with you and your folks last weekend. Your T-dinner looks so yummy. We went all traditional with Turkey and such.
I am still finding paint , found some on my elbows yesterday. Yesterday I showed Gma the pictures of Wendy carrying her purse. Now that she has a purse, all Wendy needs is a credit card and car keys……
